Jimby in Verona Italy December 2008

In December 2008 I made my first visit to Italy and Verona in particular. This followed on almost straight from my trips to Kiev and Atlanta a total of around 18,000 miles in three months. No wonder I feel tired but there again what fun for a Jimby.

Once again it was a trip with Mr Mick and also this time Miss Ann. He had been invited to give a talk at a conference or something and I was under strict orders not to be seen. So whilst they were busy I took a few snaps of myself as I explored this quaint place.

My journey started at The Hotel Accademia right in the centre of Verona.

I needed a good rest before starting my travels after the two hour flight from London.

Once refreshed I caught up with the news on TV. Mind you I couldn't understand the language but watched the pictures.

My hotel was very nice and suppose if caught I would have been told off for wandering around on my own.

There was a funny animal on the wall outside my window.

This view was of the main shopping street but I knew I wouldn't be looking around there.

Now I was ready to explore Verona but where to go. I knew there was an old place where Lions used to be seen chasing people. Then an old castle with a bridge across the river and finally the balcony where Shakespear or somebody wrote about Romeo and Juliet. Should have been Jimby and his Georgia peach Jimby!!

The Arena almost in the centre of Verona. Think who must have walked around here hundreds of years ago.

I was a bit frightened being so high and no barriers to stop me falling.

I found this walkway underneath but almost as scary as being high up outsaide. Just wondered who was around the corner.

Just to show off my new Italy Pin Badge. The others are from Kiev, an Austrian Policeman, Atlanta Georgia Tech and a USA one.

A bit of a bonus on the flight home when I was allowed out.

It was icy on the window and I kept a close watch on the engine as well.
